Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to the site owners. Local Storage and Session Storage are similar browser technologies that let websites store data on your device.
2. How We Use Cookies and Similar Technologies
Signals of Innovation uses a minimal set of cookies and browser storage. We do not use cookies to personalise ads or for remarketing. Below is a summary of what we use: • Authentication cookies: set by Supabase to keep you securely signed in. These are essential and cannot be disabled without losing access to the Service. • Local Storage (innovation data cache): we cache dashboard data locally for up to 12 hours to reduce network requests and improve load times. • Local Storage (user preferences): filter presets, alert settings, and UI state are stored locally so your preferences persist between sessions. • Stripe cookies: set by Stripe during the checkout and billing process. These are essential for payment security. • Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*): set only if you choose “Accept All” in the cookie banner. They help us understand aggregate site usage. If you choose “Essential Only”, these cookies are never set and analytics data is not collected. • Google Ads conversion cookies (_gcl_*): set only if you choose “Accept All”. They let us measure whether a visit that came from one of our Google ads led to a sign-up or subscription. They are not used to personalise ads or to show you ads elsewhere. • Google Tag Manager (googletagmanager.com): delivers the Google tag that runs Google Analytics and Google Ads measurement. Under Google Consent Mode it stores no identifier until you choose “Accept All”. • X conversion tracking (X pixel, ads-twitter.com): loaded only if you choose “Accept All”. It lets us measure whether a visit that came from one of our ads on X led to a sign-up or subscription. If you choose “Essential Only”, the X pixel is never loaded. X processes this data under its own privacy policy.
3. Types of Cookies We Use
We categorise our cookies as follows: • Strictly Necessary: authentication tokens, session identifiers, and payment processing cookies. These are required for the Service to function and cannot be switched off. • Functional: user preference storage (filter presets, theme settings). These enhance your experience but the Service will still work without them. • Analytics (optional, consent-based): Google Analytics cookies, set only after you choose “Accept All”. • Advertising measurement (optional, consent-based): Google Ads conversion cookies and the X pixel, set or loaded only after you choose “Accept All”, used to measure the results of our own ads. We use Google Consent Mode, and the X pixel is not loaded at all without consent, so no analytics or advertising identifier is stored before or without your consent. We do not use ad personalisation or remarketing cookies.
4. Third-Party Cookies
Third-party cookies on our platform come from: • Supabase (supabase.co) — for secure authentication. Essential. • Stripe (stripe.com) — for payment processing during checkout. Essential. • Google Analytics (google.com) — aggregate usage measurement. Optional; set only with your consent. • Google Ads (google.com) — measurement of our own ad campaigns. Optional; set only with your consent. • Google Tag Manager (googletagmanager.com) — delivers the Google tag for the two services above. Stores no identifier without your consent. • X (x.com, ads-twitter.com) — measurement of our own ad campaigns on X. Optional; loaded only with your consent. These services have their own cookie and privacy policies. No personal data is shared with any other third party through cookies.
5. Managing Cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to: • View what cookies are stored and delete them individually. • Block third-party cookies. • Block all cookies from specific or all sites. • Delete all cookies when you close the browser. Please note that blocking essential cookies will prevent you from signing in and using the Service. To clear Local Storage data, you can use your browser's Developer Tools (Application → Local Storage).
6. Cookie Consent
When you first visit our website, a cookie banner will ask for your consent. You can: • Accept all cookies — enables all cookies described above, including Google Analytics, Google Ads conversion measurement and the X pixel. • Accept essential only — enables only strictly necessary cookies (authentication and payments). Analytics and advertising measurement stay off. If you accepted cookies before 14 October 2026, when this policy first included X ads measurement, we ask you again. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time with the “Cookie Settings” link at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing stops analytics and advertising measurement from then on; cookies already set can be deleted in your browser settings.
7. Data Retention
Authentication cookies expire when your session ends or after an extended period if you choose to stay signed in. Local Storage data is retained until you clear it manually or until it expires (e.g., the 12-hour innovation data cache). Stripe cookies follow Stripe's own retention policies. Google Analytics cookies persist for up to 2 years (_ga) but are only set with your consent, and the analytics data we receive is aggregated.
8. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
