Hardware-Rooted Space Cryptography
Trusted execution and cryptographic key distribution/refresh across satellites and ground stations lets sensitive data and anti-jam command links remain protected even on shared or exposed orbital hardware.
Developed mainly in: European Union and United StatesImpacting: North America and Europe
MIT Lincoln Laboratory has built a prototype key management system for the US military's Protected Anti-Jam Tactical SATCOM architecture. It distributes and refreshes cryptographic keys across satellites, ground stations and terminals worldwide, including devices that are offline, disconnected or under attack, so compromised keys can be replaced without cutting units off.
