Researchers from Monash University and CSIRO applied topology optimisation to the macro-geometry of a swing-adsorption CO2 capture bed using an experimentally calibrated numerical model. The resulting blunted-cone adsorbent structure is projected to remove atmospheric CO2 at $49–116 per tonne, versus $75–140 per tonne for the conventional monolith baseline.
