Graphene-Loaded Polyolefin Packaging Films
Dispersing graphene into polyethylene film raises mechanical strength so packaging can be down-gauged and carry far higher recycled content without failing.
Developed mainly in: United KingdomImpacting: Europe and North America
Duo Packaging, working with the University of Manchester's Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre, developed 2DPE, a graphene-loaded polythene film. Industrial trials with retailer QVC reported up to 35% higher material strength, recycled content rising from 45% to 60%, and heat-sealing temperatures cut by 15°C. QVC has adopted the film at its Liverpool fulfilment centre.
