Extreme-Field Pairing Diagnostics
Using ultra-high magnetic fields to drive superconductors through and beyond their critical-field limits, exposing reentrant and field-stabilised states that fingerprint unconventional pairing mechanisms in emerging material families.
Developed mainly in: United StatesImpacting: North America, Europe and Rest of Asia
Cornell physicists led by Brad Ramshaw, with first author Sahas Kamat, reported in Nature Physics thermodynamic evidence of tetracriticality in uranium ditelluride, showing the material supports two distinct superconducting order components at once — conventional low-temperature and a field- or pressure-induced phase — making it the strongest topological superconductor candidate.
